长沙电视台政法频道是中国第一个法制类的专业频道，收视稳居湖南媒体前三位，是电视湘军里最具活力的特色地面媒体，每天播出电视节目17小时以上，节目通过无线和有线两种方式传播，信号覆盖长沙市及周边部分地区。2000年被中共长沙市委长沙市政府授予“文明单位”称号，2001年被中共中央宣传部、中华人民共和国司法部授予“全国普法先进单位”称号，2013年，获国家级广播电视节目奖7件，省级广播电视节目奖9件，在第四届中国品牌媒体高峰论坛被评为“中国品牌媒体百强”、“最具价值地面频道十强”，在中国传媒大会上获得“金长城传媒奖”、“2011中国十大地面广播电视台频道”等荣誉称号。2013年7月被市政府授予“长沙市应急频道”的称号，正式纳入市政府应急管理体系，是全省首家获得这一称号的电视媒体。
