2007年9月，浙江广电集团实行浙江教育科技频道和浙江公共·新农村频道的整合运营。2016年3月18日，浙江公共·新农村频道转型成为浙江电视台公共·新闻频道。公共·新闻频道是浙江省第一个全天24小时滚动播出新闻的专业电视频道。
2007年10月1日，浙江公共新农村频道新版节目重磅亮相，改版的重头戏为每晚七点直播的大型新闻互动栏目《新7点》，此外，《金色剧场》、《缤纷影剧院》、《新山海经》等经典节目也靓丽登场，和《新7点》融合成令人震撼的快速收视提升势头, 锐不可挡!根据央视索福瑞杭州市网数据显示，改版第一周，公共·新农村频道晚间7-10点平均收视提高了1.36个收视点，收视份额较改版前翻了几翻。以10月6日为例, 《新7点》平均收视在2个点以上,最高达到了2.93,收视份额上升为8.18%,而当天的《金色剧场》也达到2.59,收视份额高达6.35%。浙江观众开始真正关注公共频道,喜欢公共频道了, 公共新农村频道已经开始向高收视领域进军!
该频道开设时政、民生、对农、财经、体育等多档新闻节目，其中包括新闻资讯节目《新闻大直播》、《新闻关键报告》，新闻评论节目《小强大视野》、《宏伟大财经》等，并精心制作文化、人文新闻节目《最美浙江人》、《文化大舞台》、《书香浙江》等。
