2011年7月1日，北京广播电视台纪实频道开播 。2019年5月10日，北京广播电视台冬奥纪实频道上星播出 ，北京广播电视台体育频道同步停播 。2020年12月30日，北京广播电视台冬奥纪实4K超高清频道开播 。2021年12月31日，北京广播电视台冬奥纪实8K超高清试验频道开播 。2022年9月21日，北京广播电视台冬奥纪实频道调整为北京广播电视台纪实科教频道 。
