德阳电视台建于1987年10月，是德阳地区信号覆盖面积最大的地市级电视台，218米的广播电视塔，发射功率达10千瓦，直播覆盖面积一万余平方公里，间接覆盖人口逾千万。
目前，德阳电视台每天播出自办节目10小时，设有新闻、经济、文娱、外宜、科教等类栏目。
德阳有线电视台是1997年经原广播电影电视部批准成立的地级有线电视台。
德阳有线电视网络从1989年底开始建网，95年将电缆干线网改造为光纤电缆混合网（HFC），市区以外的厂矿、乡镇、采取微波传输德阳有线电视节目，发展到目前，全市用户已达10多万户，网内传输节目24套，市区近郊乡镇均已入网。
德阳有线电视台现有节目两套。其中德阳有线一套节目为经济综合频道，采用无线发射即29CH，覆盖川西平原；德阳有线二套节目为影视文艺体育频道，采用有线传输即有线8CH传输。还有德阳公共和互动生活两套节目。
2012年德阳电视台开通应急视听和新天地购物。
