南雄市广播电视局成立于1983年11月，建制为科级单位。前身是南雄县广播站，2005年5月，根据文化广播电视体制改革的精神，取消南雄市广播电视局，将原南雄市广播电视局下属的南雄人民广播电台、南雄电视台、南雄市有线电视台、南雄市微波发射中心四个机构合并，重新组建南雄市广播电视台。广播电视台担负着贯彻党和国家有关广播、电视方面的方针、政策和法律、法规，把握正确的舆论导向，负责我市广播电视新闻报道宣传，专题、广告的制作播出，负责我市广播电视安全播出工作，承办市委、市政府交办的其他事项。成功创办了南雄电视综合频道，开通了南雄广播电视台微信公众号，广播电视安全播出。
