无锡广电集团新闻综合频道开播于1960年5月1日，有线覆盖无锡一城二市七区，人口近千万，无线覆盖苏南苏中16个市(县)，人口近2千万。是全省新闻工作先进集体；历年荣获省对上对外发稿“繁荣奖”。
频道24小时全时段播出，是江苏省内电视首家，国内地市级传媒首家通过ISO9001：2000质量管理体系认证的媒体，全年广告吸纳量过亿元。2007年在全国地面频道综合实力评比中名列第二。
频道以本土化、规模化、品牌化为目标，坚持走正面宣传和自主创新之路。成功打造长105分钟大型新闻杂志《新闻全方位》，融时政新闻、社区新闻、新闻服务和新闻体验为一体；频道自主创新的《新闻全方位》、《人大之声》两个栏目荣获江苏省名牌栏目称号。2009年1月1日，频道再次实施战略性改版，《无锡新闻》节目的扩容改造、动态新闻体量和密度的增加、晚间21时后第二收视高峰的营造是2009年新版节目的显著特点。目前，频道旗下有《故事会》、《服务车》、《无锡新闻》、《第一看点》、《晚间看点》、《无锡夜新闻》、《人大之声》、《政协话题》、《执行进行时》等栏目，每天自办节目时间180分钟，在全国城市台中处于领先地位；自办新闻节目平均收视率和市场份额，稳居有线网内前列。
