2004年5月1日，内蒙古电视台新闻综合频道创建并开始播出，作为内蒙古电视台重点打造的地面频道，新闻综合频道在广大观众心中影响力日益增强。2005年5月，根据形势需要和广大观众的要求，新闻综合频道进行了全新改版。改版后，新闻综合频道的六档日播新闻节目，持续加大本地新闻的报道力度，每日首播时间量达120分钟。逢半点看新闻节目是这次新闻综合频道改版的亮点，内蒙古电视台精品电视栏目强力参与更是极大丰富了频道特色。新闻综合频道《巅峰剧场》以播出首轮剧、经典电视剧为主，多次创下了收视新高。
