三亚广播电视台于2001年6月15日正式成立，由原三亚广播电台、三亚电视台和三亚有线广播电视台“三台”合并组建而成。是三亚市政府直属正处级事业单位，实行财政定额拨款。三亚电视台位于三亚市解放四路，是中国最南端、最年轻的地级市广播电视台。是三亚市的主流媒体，也是海南省最具影响力的电视媒体之一。
2011年，面对海南国际化的新形势。年轻的三亚电视台，以立足三亚，依托海南岛，放眼国际为导向;以新形象、高品质、大视角和贴近生活、服务大众为宗旨;以品牌、创新为动力，全面提高三亚电视台的综合实力。
