河南卫视全称河南电视台卫星频道，是河南电视台旗下三个上星频道之一。河南卫视通过中星6B卫星播出，信号覆盖地域包括东亚、东南亚、中亚和澳大利亚等52个国家和地区 ，旗舰类栏目通过河南电视台国际频道向全球传播。
新思路、新节目、新媒体、新产业将是河南卫视发力的四大方向。河南卫视拟通过实施‘全球影响、全媒融合、全业开发’的发展战略，确立频道‘有活力 更出彩’的特色定位，以内容产业为主导，以青春、活力作为品牌的生长内核，加快线上线下资源的产业互补，实现与新媒体平台的深度融合，努力使河南卫视成为特色鲜明、发展潜力巨大的新型媒体传播平台。
河南卫视已经完全具备高清播出条件，经国家新闻出版广电总局和省新闻出版广电局批准，高清电视于2015年5月1日零时起，正式开始在河南有线网络播出。 2016年8月3日，河南卫视标清版改16:9播出（但台标、早间《新闻60分》、《河南新闻联播》重播、晚间《聚焦中原》、转播《中央电视台新闻联播》等部分节目仍然是4:3拉伸）。
2016年12月， V地标（2016）中国电视媒体综合实力大型调研榜单中被评为 年度优秀省级卫视。
