贵港电视台1993年3月5日，自治区广播电视厅关于贵港市建立电视台提出意见呈报广播电影电视部：贵港市是连结云、贵、川、粤和港、澳的水陆交通枢纽，是广西对外贸易内河港口城市，国务院于1992年批准贵港市为一类对外开放口岸， 全市面积3533平方公里，人口150万人，全市30个乡（镇）已有28个建立了广播电视站，拥有电视机12万多台，转播中央和广西电视台的节目已覆盖全市人口的80%， 建立电视台的人员、经费、台址均已落实，具备建立电视台条件。现拥有新闻综合、公共两个频道。
