慈利县广播电视台为县政府直属事业单位，正科级，设10个内设机构。开办了《新闻综合》、《经济生活》、《影视娱乐》三个频道，办有《慈利新闻》、《慈利周刊》、《城乡纪事》、《慈利三农》、《慈利警视》、《卫生在线》等专栏。目前，全县有线电视用户6.5万余户，其中数字电视用户已达3.5万余户。有线电视光缆联网乡镇29个，乡镇光缆联网率达94%。全县广播电视综合覆盖率达95%。曾先后荣获"湖南省'村村通'广播电视先进单位" "全国广播电影电视系统先进集体"、 "全国县级广播电视系统百家先进局台"等荣誉称号。
