肥西县广播电视台根据《中共安徽省委办公厅关于印发<关于整合组建市县广播电视台的意见>的通知》（厅〔2010〕27号）文件精神，并报经合肥市机构编制委员会批复（合编办〔2010〕23号）设立，为县政府直属正科级事业单位。2015年2月，根据县委、县政府决定，肥西县广播电视台与肥西县文化广电新闻出版局分设，独立建制。
2015年12月18日，中共肥西县广播电视台总支部委员会成立；2016年10月，经县委组织部批复成立中共肥西县广播电视台党组，12月份成立台工会、妇委会、团委；台内设办公室、人事财务科、总编室、新闻采访部、广播部、专题部、编播制作部、工程技术部、广告中心等九个部室。现有广播频率FM88.6、两个无线电视频道—新闻综合频道、生活频道。肥西广播电视台目前实现全媒体平台播出，拥有肥西本地最大的视频网站—肥西县广播电视台官网，电视直播平台“APP看肥西”，微信公众号“AHFXTV”、“看肥西”。肥西县广播电视台新媒体在今日头条、新浪微博、搜狐新闻、百度百家、界面等多平台入驻。
肥西县广播电视台坚持新闻立台方针，以科学发展观为引领，牢记职责使命，服务县委县政府中心工作，服务地方经济社会发展，服务大众精神文化生活，倾情讲好肥西故事，致力打造新型主流新闻媒体。
