Introduction to 农林卫视
陕西农林卫视是经在陕的全国人大代表在全国两会期间提议，中央领导同志的直接关心批示下、国家广电总局主要领导三次实地调研之后正式批复的国内第一家，也是全国2000多个电视频道当中唯一一家专业从事农林科技推广和普及的专业卫星电视频道。
2008年3月31日，依照全国人大提议、广电总局发起，全国首家农林科技卫星频道——陕西农林科技卫视如期开播，这也是继陕西卫视之后，陕西电视台推出的第二套卫星频道。
此前，全国有2000多个电视频道，但没有一家是真正意义上从事农林科技推广的卫星频道。而在当前农村，电视是广大农民获取信息最直接、最实用、最有效的渠道，因此，通过现代电视传媒推广科学技术，是提高农民素质，培育新型农民的重要手段，对发展现代农业、推进社会主义新农村建设意义重大。为此，陕西电视台于2007年5月提出利用中国农科城--杨凌雄厚的农业科技资源，申办全国首家农林科技卫视的计划，得到了国家广电总局的大力支持。同年8月，国家广电总局批准农林科技卫视申办方案，并同意该频道覆盖西北、华北，在北京、天津、河北、山西、内蒙、陕西、甘肃、宁夏、青海、新疆等10个省（市、区）的城镇和农村地区政策性落地。
