影视频道以传播影视资讯，介绍影视文化为定位，全力搭建全省最大的影视剧播放平台，独家买断版权的千余部电影为广大观众提供了丰富的视听资源，继成功推出全国唯一一档影视竞技类节目《影视发烧友》后，2004年又在省内率先推出了影视人物专访栏目《难忘》。
吉林电视台影视频道于2001年9月3日正式开播，通过有线网络覆盖吉林省全境，是吉林电视台下设的，以电影和电视剧为主要播出内容的专业频道。
吉视影视频道全天播出23小时，全天分为七个剧场，早间6：55《红火剧场》四集连放，以优秀电视剧为主。中午12：16《红火影院》精彩电影，打造午间黄金档。下午17：38《明星剧场》精彩剧集，两集连放。全天的主打时段为19：33《影视大放送》，21：50《大片场》。
在2006年，影视频道调整思路，提出“快乐星风尚”的口号。服务全民，娱乐全民将是吉视影视频道在未来秉承的宗旨，为观众不断送上精彩好看的节目是吉视影视频道永远的追求。
