1986年，酒泉广播电视台正式开播，从那一天起，就成为酒泉发展、前进的忠诚记录者，见证着酒泉改革开放的每一个历史片段，记录着酒泉经济社会发展的每一个足迹。自建台以来，一代又一代酒泉广电人秉承着对新闻宣传事业的忠诚和热爱，殚精竭虑，锐意进取，不断创新，新闻宣传、事业和产业发展、队伍建设都得到长足发展。
目前，酒泉广播电视台共有员工160人，内设办公室、政工科、人力资源科、监管办、新闻部、专题部、纪录片工作室、经济部、制作部、总编室、播出部、工程技术部、新媒体部13个科部室，各类专业技术人员82人，拥有酒泉综合频道、酒泉公共频道和“睛彩酒泉”三个自办频道，开设《酒泉新闻》、《今晚八点半》、《纪录·酒泉》、《爱尚消费》、《生活无限》等8个新闻、社教、经济和娱乐类自办栏目，同时，设有《纪录中国》、《健康第一线》等合办栏目7个，制作播出了大量观众喜爱的优秀节目。节目覆盖酒泉7县市区及酒泉卫星发射中心和空军试验基地。
作为酒泉广播电视台一张靓丽名片的纪录片制作，十几年来，在央视《探索发现》栏目和纪录频道播出纪录片8部，这些纪录片先后多次获得国际、国家及省级大奖，创造了全国市级电视台纪录片创作的奇迹。近几年，酒泉广播电视台新闻和专题节目也屡屡荣获国家级、省级奖项，新闻外宣连续14年在省台上稿保持第一，社会影响力不断增强，成为当之无愧的“全国有影响、全省有位置”的地市台和酒泉权威媒体。
