瑞安电视台创建于1985年5月15日，1999年4月机构改革，实行“局台合一，三台合一”后，设立电视中心、对外呼号“瑞安电视台”，目前中心下设综合部、编辑部、新闻部、专题部、广告部、播出技术部、员工70余人。
经过20年的艰苦创业，瑞安电视台已经形成了一支适应现代电视要求，能征善战的采编播和技术队伍。目前，拥有自办栏目14个，全天播出20小时。其中《瑞安新闻》、《正午播报》、《吾乡吾土》等具有较高知名度和影响力。近年来，在新闻报道中加强前期策划、改进报道形式，突出时效性、现场感、取得了显著效果，2003年《瑞安新闻》获得全省县级台电视新闻节目抽评第一名。2003、2004年连续两年获浙江广电集团新闻报道协作特等奖。同时，技术工作取得了突出成绩，采编播全面实现数字化。
