安庆电视台是皖西南区域性首选媒体，开办新闻综合频道、公共频道和经济生活频道，覆盖人口1000万，下辖安庆有线电视网络中心和安庆在线网站（www.anqingonline.cn/www.aqtv.cn），2006年经营总收入已经超过5000万元。
安庆电视台拥有一大批电视品牌节目，包括安徽省新闻名栏目《天天直播》，安徽省电视新闻、电视文艺“十佳”栏目《今日视点》、《黄梅阁》等。其中民生新闻栏目《天天直播》收视率稳定在24个点左右，收视份额超过60%（CSM数据）。 电视新闻《有这样一伙车匪路霸》荣获中国新闻奖，电视文艺《黄梅留香 岁月留声》荣获中国电视戏曲节目兰花奖。
2006 年，安庆电视台成功承办中国黄梅戏戏迷大赛，与央视合作向全国现场直播乒乓球超级联赛和中国黄梅戏艺术节开幕式大型文艺晚会。安庆电视台参与拍摄、投资1800万元的三十集神话电视连续剧《天仙配》9月在黄梅戏之乡安庆市天柱山下开机拍摄，黄圣依、韩再芬、胡可、文清、王思懿等众多明星加盟。
