青岛电视台始建于1971年9月，是建台最早的中国城市电视台之一。1971年9月14日建成开播，时名青岛电视转播台，1976年1月1日改为青岛电视台。2009年12月23日，青岛市广播电视局改建为青岛广播电视台，下设广播、电视、广电影视传媒集团等机构，并下辖城阳、崂山、黄岛广播电视中心。
青岛电视台现自办八个频道，每天播出节目100多小时。QTV-1新闻综合频道；QTV-2生活服务频道；QTV-3影视频道；QTV-4财经资讯频道；QTV-5都市频道；QTV-6青少旅游频道（SV CHANNEL）；青岛党建电视频道；青岛电视台58女性频道。下属还有以QTV作为台标的崂山频道、李沧频道等区级电视频道。现有青岛网络电视台作为其网络播放平台，是以视听互动为核心，融网络与电视为一体的跨地域、多终端的新媒体，覆盖面广、容量大、互动性强、多屏（电脑屏、手机屏）同步发布。
青岛广播电视台坐落在青岛市市南区宁夏路200号，背山面海，建筑面积7.4万平方米，具有现代化广播电视全方位的办公和演播功能。232米高的钢结构电视塔坐落在市区海拔116米的太平山上，发射覆盖半径为90公里，同时播出六套电视节目和八套调频广播节目，节目混合覆盖人口超过1千万。
