2022年2月21日凌晨1时，开办已有19年的湖北荆门广播电视台公共频道正式停止播出。荆门广播电视台发布的《公共频道停播通告》称：2003年元月1日，为落实国家广电总局关于市县广播电视播出机构“整合资源、垂直贯通”职能转变的要求，本台公共频道正式开播。今天，为贯彻落实国家广播电视总局《关于进一步加强专业电视频道建设管理的意见》文件精神，按照地市台“优化结构，精简精办”的要求，报请相关部门同意，做出停播决定。
